Hi, I’m Dr Nat Arias!
(Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs)
I am a bilingual researcher, speaker, and educator. I am an expert in teaching and activist research, particularly in participatory and visual research methods. I am an intersectional scholar, drawing from the fields of Development, Sociology, Migration, Queer Geography, and LGBT+ Human Rights in Europe. I am an advocacy specialist who is deeply committed to supporting migrant women and queer people of colour in Europe.

I can design and support research, educational, and initiatives at any stage – from design, to data collection, writing, and dissemination events.

    GenderFluid Histories for Queer & Trans People of Colour – Njinga of Ndongo

    Learning histories of Queer and Trans* people of colour helps us reflect on how “gender” changes, structures everyday life, and influences who is ‘remembered’. But LGBT+ history in Europe often applies a white, middle-class understanding of gender and sexuality (and ‘trans-ness’) onto ‘Other cultures’ to selectively include people of colour into Queer historical narratives. This means that “inclusion” comes at the expense of glossing over power imbalances in current and historical communities.
